• As always, best practice is to back up the database before updating. See Database Backup / Restoration for instructions about how to do this. Alternatively, consult your Oracle documentation for backup instructions.

• Before running upgrade on Solaris, perform the following command as root:

chmod 777 /etc/rc2.d/S75owaredb

If mysql.server is still owned by root, you may need to perform chown testgroup:testuser mysql.server (testgroup and testuser are examples only).

• If a shell with the Oware environment sourced is open before upgrade then close the shell or re-source the environment after installer completes. If upgrading Oracle, make certain the environment has been updated before running post-install tasks.

To re-source the Oware environment, run the following:
