Upgrade from 5.3.8 to 6.0.2+

Once you have v. 5.3.8 installation, the process of upgrading, and migrating data is automated with the installation. Installing an upgrade displays screens that ask, if you are upgrading a MySQL database, whether you want to back up the database--and reminds you of the file name while it lets you pick the path to store the backup. If your upgrade includes migration tasks processing the previous version’s data, a screen in the wizard also asks you where to temporarily store those. If you are upgrading an Oracle installation, see Oracle Databases for the manual upgrade steps for those.

Version 6.0.2 supports migrations from 5.3.8, 6.0 or 6.0.1. If you want to upgrade an older version, please refer to the 5.3.8 Administration Section for information about how to upgrade to that version.

This can be a time-consuming process, taking literally hours to migrate data. The duration of the upgrade’s data migration depends on the size of your database and the speed of your hardware.
